Dianna Dodge injured in Verona two-vehicle collision

VERONA, NY — October 19, 2026 Dianna Dodge sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Smith Road and Spring Road in Verona, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies reported that the crash occurred at approximately 1 p.m. Monday when a Dodge Ram pickup traveling west on Smith Road entered the intersection after stopping at a stop sign. The pickup allegedly failed to yield to a northbound Subaru Forester, resulting in a collision.

The impact sent both vehicles off the roadway, and the Subaru subsequently caught fire.

Dodge, who was driving the Subaru, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment.

The pickup’s driver sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Wynn Hospital in Utica.

Authorities have not issued any citations in connection with the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision, including the reported failure to yield at the intersection.

National legal analyst Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal, has highlighted the importance of preserving evidence and independently reviewing the circumstances of serious crashes. In cases such as this, a thorough investigation may involve examining police reports, interviewing witnesses, reviewing vehicle damage and assessing relevant insurance coverage.

These steps can help establish how a collision occurred and determine whether negligence contributed to the injuries. Liability, however, cannot be determined solely from preliminary reports, and the official investigation remains ongoing.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Depending on the investigation’s findings and the applicable law, an injured person may be eligible to pursue compensation through a personal injury claim.

National legal analyst Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, has discussed how injury claims may address documented medical expenses, anticipated future treatment, lost earnings and other legally recoverable losses associated with a collision.

In cases such as this, medical records, employment documentation, insurance policies and evidence concerning the crash may be relevant when evaluating a potential claim. Any recovery would depend on the available evidence, applicable law and the specific circumstances of the case.

Accident Injury News will continue to follow developments as further information becomes available.
