FATAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Candice Bond, a national legal analyst and managing partner at Bond Legal, has emphasized the importance of a thorough, independent investigation in hit-and-run cases. In cases such as this, investigators may examine physical evidence, vehicle damage, roadway conditions, lighting, visibility and available surveillance footage to help reconstruct the collision and identify the driver.

Locating the vehicle may provide investigators with additional evidence about the circumstances surrounding the crash. Witness statements and other available records may also help establish the sequence of events. The official findings will be important in determining the factors that contributed to the collision and whether negligence played a role.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Depending on the findings of the investigation and the applicable law, eligible surviving family members may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Such claims can potentially address qualifying losses associated with a fatal collision, including loss of companionship and other legally recognized damages.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal and a national legal analyst, has highlighted the importance of protecting families’ legal rights following fatal accidents. In cases such as this, the investigation’s findings may help clarify liability and inform the assessment of any potential civil claim.

Any determination of responsibility or eligibility for compensation would depend on the available evidence, applicable Tennessee law and the specific circumstances of the case.
