Andy Martinez-Pantoja Killed in Fort Pierce Hit-and-Run Crash

FORT PIERCE, FL — October 11, 2026 Andy Ramon Martinez-Pantoja, 44, died following a collision involving a gas-powered scooter and a cargo van near Okeechobee Road and South 25th Street in Fort Pierce, Florida, according to reports about the incident.

The crash occurred at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday. Police said a white cargo van was traveling east on Okeechobee Road behind Martinez-Pantoja’s scooter when the vehicles collided. The impact reportedly threw the scooter rider from his vehicle, leaving him with fatal injuries.

According to authorities, the van driver subsequently attempted to leave the scene. The driver reportedly made a U-turn, crossed the median while traveling in the wrong direction, and struck the Kings & Queens Unisex Salon building. The driver then fled on foot.

A Toyota pickup truck was also involved in the incident, but no injuries were reported among its occupants.

Fort Pierce police and assisting law enforcement personnel searched for the driver. Investigators were working to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision and identify the person responsible.

FATAL SCOOTER ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Investigators will need to examine the sequence of events leading to the collision, including the vehicles’ movements, road conditions, visibility and the actions of those involved.

Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and national legal analyst, has emphasized the importance of an independent investigation in cases such as this. A thorough review can help establish how a collision occurred and whether negligence contributed to the outcome.

Evidence may include photographs of the scene, vehicle damage, physical evidence from the roadway, surveillance footage and witness statements. Accident reconstruction specialists may also help determine the vehicles’ positions, direction of travel and the sequence of impacts.

Investigators may additionally examine roadway lighting, signage and other environmental conditions to determine whether they played a role. These are potential areas of inquiry, not confirmed causes of this particular crash.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The death of Andy Ramon Martinez-Pantoja may give eligible surviving family members grounds to explore a wrongful death claim, depending on the evidence and applicable Florida law.

Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal and a national legal analyst, has highlighted the importance of protecting families’ interests following fatal accidents. In cases such as this, a review of the official investigation may help clarify the circumstances of the death and whether a legally responsible party can be identified.

Depending on the circumstances, a wrongful death claim may address qualifying losses such as lost financial support, loss of companionship and other damages permitted by law. The availability and scope of any recovery depend on the facts, the parties’ legal responsibilities and the requirements of Florida law.

The investigation into the Fort Pierce collision remains an important step toward establishing what happened. Any determination of fault or civil liability will depend on the evidence gathered by authorities and any subsequent legal proceedings.
