Terrell Taylor killed in Jacksonville pedestrian crash, according to JPD

JACKSONVILLE, AR — October 10, 2026 The Jacksonville Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred early Saturday morning along John Harden Drive and claimed the life of a 36-year-old man.

Terrell Taylor was struck by a vehicle while walking in the 3600 block of John Harden Drive around 4:39 a.m. A Jacksonville police officer who witnessed the crash and emergency responders performed life-saving efforts at the scene, but Taylor was pronounced dead there.

The driver, a 23-year-old woman, was uninjured. She stayed at the location and cooperated with investigators. A subsequent breath test at the station showed her blood alcohol content exceeded the legal limit of 0.08 percent. She was taken into custody at the Pulaski County Jail and charged with negligent homicide and driving while intoxicated.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Impaired driving continues to place everyone on the roadway at serious risk and can end lives without warning. In cases such as this, national legal analysts note that drivers found operating under the influence face criminal consequences when their actions result in injury or death.

“Drunken and drugged drivers are subject to criminal charges following an accident or collision that causes harm or kills another person,” explained Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. She further observed that, independent of any criminal case, the family of a person killed may pursue compensation through a civil action against the responsible party.

National Safety Council data shows that roughly 10 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes involve drivers under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medications. These incidents rank as the second-leading cause of traffic fatalities nationwide. Analysts emphasize that thorough investigation of impairment levels, vehicle operation, and roadway conditions is essential to establish accountability.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Once the official investigation concludes, the family of a person killed in a collision may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. In cases such as this, surviving relatives can seek recovery for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress that follow a sudden and catastrophic loss.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal. “We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”

Accident Injury News extends its thoughts to the family and loved ones of Terrell Taylor.
