Florida man George Ehman dies in Medina two-vehicle crash

MEDINA, MN — October 3, 2026 — George Michael Ehman, 68, of Cape Coral, Florida, died Saturday morning following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 55 near County Road 116 in Medina, Hennepin County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Two occupants of the other vehicle sustained injuries that authorities described as non-life-threatening.

The crash was reported shortly after 10 a.m. on the westbound section of Highway 55, just west of County Road 116. According to the initial incident report, a Mercedes-Benz traveling west collided with a Ford F-150 pickup that was making a left turn from southbound County Road 116 toward eastbound Highway 55.

Ehman, who was driving the Ford pickup, died in the collision. State Patrol records indicate that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

The Mercedes-Benz was driven by Randall Thomas Lofgren, 75, of Plymouth, Minnesota. His passenger, Anthony Deandre Clarke, 29, also of Plymouth, was traveling with him when the vehicles collided.

Both Lofgren and Clarke sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale for treatment. Authorities reported that both men were wearing seat belts.

The road surface was reported dry when the crash occurred. Investigators have not released a final determination regarding the circumstances that led to the collision.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash at Highway 55 and County Road 116. The reported sequence of events involves a westbound Mercedes-Benz and a Ford F-150 attempting a left turn toward eastbound Highway 55.

A full review of the collision may consider the movements of both vehicles, their positions before impact, available witness accounts, and any additional evidence gathered at the scene. Investigators may also examine the official crash report and other relevant information to establish the sequence of events.

National legal analyst Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal, has discussed the importance of carefully examining evidence following serious traffic collisions. In cases such as this, a thorough review of the available records, witness statements, and physical evidence can help clarify how a crash occurred.

The response involved personnel from the Medina, Plymouth and Corcoran police departments, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Medina Fire Department, North Memorial emergency medical services, and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

The State Patrol’s published incident report identifies the collision as fatal and lists the road conditions as dry. A final finding on the cause of the crash has not been established in the information currently available.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

A fatal motor vehicle collision may raise questions about insurance coverage and potential civil claims. Whether a wrongful death claim or another form of compensation may be available depends on the facts established during the investigation and the applicable law.

In cases such as this, national legal analyst Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal, has highlighted the importance of reviewing the official investigation and understanding the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision. Relevant considerations may include the evidence documenting how the vehicles collided, the findings of investigating authorities, and the insurance policies that apply.

Any determination of legal responsibility would depend on the evidence and the applicable legal standards. The available crash report does not, by itself, establish civil liability or determine the outcome of any potential claim.

Accident Injury News will continue to report verified developments if authorities release additional information about the collision.
