Brittany Anthony Dies in Sherman Oaks Multi-Car Crash, ME Confirms

SHERMAN OAKS, CA, (November 01, 2025) – A 33-year-old woman was tragically killed early Saturday on the San Diego Freeway in Sherman Oaks after her vehicle, disabled from a prior crash, was sideswiped by two other cars.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the victim as Brittany Anthony.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Anthony’s Mazda sedan was involved in an earlier collision on the northbound 405 Freeway just south of Burbank Boulevard near the 101 Freeway at approximately 3:30 a.m. Her vehicle came to rest in the lanes and was subsequently struck by a Ford SUV and a Toyota SUV. Anthony was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP reported that the Toyota driver is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. Authorities have not released details regarding the Ford driver or whether charges will be filed.

The investigation is ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Each year, road accidents claim thousands of lives in the U.S. While multiple factors contribute, unsafe driver behavior—including speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and distracted driving such as texting or phone use—accounts for the majority of fatal crashes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 8,055 people lost their lives in motor vehicle collisions during the first quarter of 2025.

While the cause and liability of the crash are under investigation, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of an independent investigation by a seasoned attorney.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, analyze surveillance video from the scene, and obtain phone and texting records of the responsible party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

Time is critical in cases like this, and families of victims must ensure that all evidence is reviewed promptly and thoroughly.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Brittany Anthony may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims can seek damages for loss of companionship, emotional distress, pain and suffering, and other impacts following a catastrophic accident.

“Losing a loved one is not only an emotional tragedy but can also create financial hardship,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal.

“Families affected by the negligence of another party should consult a wrongful death attorney to receive the guidance and support necessary to pursue justice and protect their rights.”
