OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, (March 25, 2026) – A 46-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Oklahoma City, authorities said.
According to police, Zulma Briones was struck by a vehicle at about 6 a.m. near Southwest 59th Street and Western Avenue.
Briones died at the scene from her injuries. The driver fled the area, and the vehicle is believed to be dark-colored.
Under the law, any driver involved in a collision must remain at the scene until authorities arrive. However, many suspects flee due to fear of arrest, intoxication, or lack of a valid license.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 4 million people were involved in hit-and-run crashes between 2018 and 2022, with over 12,000 fatalities reported.
