SOUTH BAY, FL, (August 01, 2026) – Zion Alexis Moore, 13, died after being seriously injured in a three-vehicle collision in South Bay, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 3:24 p.m. Aug. 1 near the 7560 block of S. U.S. 27.
According to investigators, a 37-year-old woman was driving a 2021 Cadillac XTS southbound when she lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the northbound lanes.
The Cadillac was struck on the driver’s side by a northbound 2023 Peterbilt tractor-trailer. A northbound 2017 Nissan Altima then sideswiped the rear of the Cadillac.
The collision caused a significant fuel leak, prompting Palm Beach County Fire Rescue’s Special Operations team to respond and secure the scene.
The Cadillac’s driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. A 13-year-old girl who was traveling in the rear seat was extricated from the vehicle but died at the scene despite lifesaving efforts.
Two other passengers in the Cadillac were transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center. On Aug. 7, hospital officials confirmed that one of those passengers, 13-year-old Zion Alexis Moore, had died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The remaining passenger continues to receive treatment for serious injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Nissan Altima were treated for minor injuries at Lakeside Medical Center. The occupants of the Peterbilt tractor-trailer were not injured.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the collision.
