RALEIGH, NC — Monday, November 24, 2025 — One person sustained serious injuries early Monday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Raleigh, North Carolina, after a motorist attempting to evade authorities crashed his vehicle, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCHP).
The incident began at approximately 2:04 a.m. when an NCHP trooper initiated a traffic stop on a 2016 Acura ILX, operated by 27-year-old Manuel Gibran Zambrano-Cedeno, for speeding on U.S. Highway 401 near Wake Forest Road. Zambrano-Cedeno initially pulled over but subsequently fled the scene after the trooper exited the patrol vehicle. The pursuit ended when the Acura collided with a 2015 Honda Accord on Falls of the Neuse Road. The driver of the Honda was badly hurt and was transported to Wake Medical Center for treatment. Zambrano-Cedeno attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. Additional details, including specific charges, were not initially released by authorities.
