Zambrano-Cedeno arrested in injury crash after police chase

RALEIGH, NC — Monday, November 24, 2025 — One person sustained serious injuries early Monday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Raleigh, North Carolina, after a motorist attempting to evade authorities crashed his vehicle, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCHP).

The incident began at approximately 2:04 a.m. when an NCHP trooper initiated a traffic stop on a 2016 Acura ILX, operated by 27-year-old Manuel Gibran Zambrano-Cedeno, for speeding on U.S. Highway 401 near Wake Forest Road. Zambrano-Cedeno initially pulled over but subsequently fled the scene after the trooper exited the patrol vehicle. The pursuit ended when the Acura collided with a 2015 Honda Accord on Falls of the Neuse Road. The driver of the Honda was badly hurt and was transported to Wake Medical Center for treatment. Zambrano-Cedeno attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. Additional details, including specific charges, were not initially released by authorities.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The law requires motorists to comply immediately when a police officer initiates a traffic stop. An ongoing investigation will assess the conduct of the driver and also review if proper protocol was adhered to by law enforcement during the pursuit. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately 2.2 million people were injured in motor vehicle crashes nationwide in 2023.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney and a national analyst for Accident Injury News, underscored the critical need for an independent investigation in cases such as this to secure evidence and protect the rights of the injured person. Bond stated that in cases such as this, time is vital, and a thorough review of evidence must be conducted efficiently. She added that an attorney serves as a devoted advocate, compassionately guiding clients through this challenging period while diligently protecting their legal rights and ensuring their best interests are served.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

The victim injured in the Honda Accord may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the at-fault driver. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News, noted that suffering a serious injury often results in overwhelming stress and worry, severely disrupting a person’s quality of life, including family, work, and finances. Formica emphasized that although financial compensation cannot fully negate a devastating injury, it is important for the victim to be aware of their legal rights and the recovery they are entitled to by law. He further explained that the injured individual in this collision may seek recovery for various damages, including medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.
