Young Yong Kim Dies After Hill County Pickup Truck Collision

HILL, TX (May 25, 2026) — A two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon in Hill County left one man dead and another injured, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS troopers responded at approximately 3:41 p.m. to the intersection of FM 933 and FM 1304, located south of Aquilla. Investigators said an Acura passenger vehicle was traveling westbound on FM 1304 approaching the stop-controlled intersection.

According to DPS, the Acura failed to yield the right-of-way at the stop sign and entered the intersection, where it collided with a northbound Ford pickup truck towing a gooseneck trailer on FM 933.

The driver of the Acura, identified as 36-year-old Young Yong Kim of Copperas Cove, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency medical personnel airlifted the 72-year-old driver of the pickup truck to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. Authorities said the driver suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the Federal Highway Administration, nearly 40 percent of vehicle crashes occur at intersections. Many of these accidents are linked to drivers failing to obey stop signs or traffic signals. Common contributing factors include distracted driving, impatience, and reckless behavior. Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, said cases like this often require an independent investigation to help safeguard victims’ rights.

“It is important to determine the precise cause of these types of collisions. An attorney has the resources to examine insurance coverage, consult with expert witnesses, conduct background investigations, and identify witnesses,” said Candice Bond, a managing partner with Bond Legal.

“Beyond the police report, an attorney can closely evaluate all possible contributing factors to the accident,” Bond added. “Legal counsel can retain experts, locate witnesses, review insurance policies, and help guide victims and families through what is often a complicated process.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the findings of the investigation, the injured victim may have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Victims injured in collisions frequently pursue personal injury claims to help recover compensation for medical expenses, future treatment needs, lost income, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.

“Insurance companies are often unwilling to fully address the growing financial burdens faced by injured victims. That is where experienced legal representation can make a difference. We work every day to protect victims and hold insurance companies accountable for their negligence,” he added.
