Xander Hover dies after pickup crash in Juab County

JUAB, UT (April 2, 2026) – Two teenagers were killed and another seriously injured in a high-speed single-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Juab County.

According to the Juab County Sheriff’s Office, a pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed on Weiss Highway left the roadway and crashed at approximately 6:17 p.m.

A passenger, identified as 15-year-old Xander Hover, was ejected during the wreck and died from his injuries.

The 17-year-old driver of the vehicle also suffered fatal injuries.

A second 15-year-old passenger sustained multiple injuries, including internal bleeding and fractures, and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

A GoFundMe page has been created to support the family of Xander Hover.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Speeding is a dangerous form of reckless driving that significantly increases the risk of serious crashes.

Excessive speed reduces a driver’s ability to react to hazards, increases stopping distance, and diminishes the effectiveness of roadway safety features.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 280 people died in motor vehicle crashes in Utah in 2024.

“Factors such as road conditions, visibility, and lighting will be carefully evaluated,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“In addition to reviewing the official police report, an attorney may examine contributing factors, consult experts, identify witnesses, and assess insurance coverage,” Bond explained. “Acting as an advocate, legal counsel can help guide victims or families through what is often a complex process.”

“Accident reconstruction specialists are sometimes required to determine exactly what occurred. These resources are critical in helping families pursue compensation following a collision,” Bond added.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Xander Hover may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving relatives may seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages resulting from such a tragic accident.

“The grief and emotional toll following the loss of a loved one in a crash can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face, and protecting their legal rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation and help ensure their best interests are represented,” he added.
