Woman Dies in Nissan Rogue vs Chevrolet Trax Collision in Jasper Co

JASPER COUNTY, MO (May 15, 2026) — A 90-year-old Diamond woman died following a two-vehicle crash outside the city in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

Authorities said the crash occurred at approximately 12:35 p.m. on Highway 59 when a northbound 2015 Nissan Rogue crested a hill and collided with a westbound 2016 Chevrolet Trax.

A passenger in the Chevrolet, identified as the Diamond woman, sustained critical injuries in the collision. She was transported to Cox South Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead the following day.

The drivers of both vehicles were also injured in the crash and taken to area hospitals with moderate injuries.

Officials stated that further details were not included in the initial crash report, and the incident remains under review.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identifies speeding as the leading cause of traffic crashes, followed by impairment from alcohol, drugs, or medication; failure to remain in the proper lane; failure to yield; and distracted driving.

Regardless of the outcome of any official investigation, Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, emphasized the importance of retaining legal counsel to conduct an independent review to preserve evidence and protect the rights of grieving families.

NHTSA estimates that 36,640 people died in traffic crashes across the United States in 2025, including 914 fatalities in Missouri.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors that must be carefully evaluated,” said Bond, Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“It is essential to determine the exact cause of these types of crashes. An attorney has the resources to review insurance coverage, hire expert witnesses, conduct background investigations, and locate witnesses. We guide families through every step of the process,” she added.

“An accident reconstruction team may also be necessary to help determine what occurred. These tools are vital in helping families pursue compensation for losses following a serious collision,” Bond said.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of the victim may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional distress, and pain and suffering following a tragic accident.

“The emotional toll after losing a loved one in a crash can be devastating,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face, and protecting their legal rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation closely and work to ensure the family’s best interests are fully protected,” he said.

“An attorney can also protect families from large insurance companies and their legal teams while carefully reviewing all aspects of the crash. Legal representation ensures that the rights of surviving family members are upheld.”

Additionally, injured victims in such crashes may also pursue personal injury claims to recover damages for medical expenses, future treatment, lost income, emotional suffering, and pain and suffering.
