FATAL DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Sadly, alcohol-impaired driving continues to be one of the leading causes of fatal and serious-injury crashes in California, according to the state’s Office of Traffic Safety.

In 2023, 1,355 people were killed in alcohol-involved crashes, representing a 55 percent increase from 2014.

Drivers under the influence often experience impaired judgment, reduced coordination, diminished vision, and slower reaction times, significantly increasing the risk of devastating collisions. Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News, addressed the legal implications of crashes involving suspected impaired drivers.

“Separate from criminal charges, a victim’s family may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” said Candice Bond. “Beyond the diligent efforts of law enforcement, an attorney can independently review surveillance footage, re-interview witnesses, and obtain phone and text records of the liable party. By serving as an advocate, legal counsel can compassionately guide a family through this difficult time while protecting their rights and helping ensure that an impaired driver is held accountable.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Willie Brown may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families who lose a loved one in a fatal crash may seek compensation for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, emotional distress, and other damages resulting from the tragic incident.

“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will monitor the official investigation, safeguard the family’s legal interests, and help ensure they receive the support they deserve. Relatives of wrongful death victims are entitled to seek damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.”
