LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that happened May 6 at 6:50 p.m. on Interstate 65. Alabama State Troopers are leading the investigation and gathering details about the circumstances leading up to the incident.
A vehicle traveling south lost control, left the roadway, and flipped multiple times before stopping on Piney Chapel Road. Officials confirmed that the driver remained at the scene following the accident.
William Hardrick, 22, suffered fatal injuries. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Hardrick was a college football player at Austin Peay State University and previously played at Mississippi State and Miami (Ohio).
Investigators charged John McAdams, 31, with murder in connection with Hardrick’s death. Authorities also charged him with leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence. Troopers said McAdams had a blood alcohol content of 0.09%, which is above the legal limit.
McAdams is currently being held in the Limestone County Jail without bond. Authorities continue their investigation and encourage anyone with relevant information to reach out as they work to determine all factors involved in the accident.
