Wichita Falls police arrest Maliah White in hit-and-run accident TX

WICHITA FALLS, TX, (April 25, 2026) – A Wichita Falls woman was arrested Saturday after allegedly striking a motorcyclist on Central Freeway and fleeing the scene, according to the Wichita Falls Police Department (WFPD).

Authorities said a witness observed a Volvo sedan weaving through traffic at high speed on northbound Central Freeway around 6:40 a.m. The vehicle reportedly struck a three-wheeled motorcycle, ejecting the rider into a grassy area east of the roadway.

The injured motorcyclist was transported to United Regional Hospital with serious injuries and later airlifted to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex for advanced medical care.

Police located the Volvo abandoned at a convenience store near North Eighth Street and Central Freeway Access Road. The vehicle showed significant front passenger-side damage and deployed airbags.

Investigators identified Maliah White as the driver through witness descriptions and follow-up police work. She later admitted to operating the vehicle at the time of the crash and was arrested. White has been charged with collision involving personal injury or death and booked into the Wichita County Jail.

The victim’s identity has not been released. The investigation remains ongoing.

HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Leaving the scene of a crash is a criminal offense, and data indicates that approximately 11 percent of all accidents involve a hit-and-run driver. In many situations, at-fault drivers attempt to evade responsibility by fleeing, but they often face charges once identified.

Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney, highlighted the importance of a timely and independent investigation to safeguard the rights of victims.

“Having the necessary resources is critical in investigating hit-and-run cases and establishing negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Factors such as roadway conditions, visibility of signage, and lighting must be carefully evaluated. These steps are essential to help injured victims pursue justice and obtain fair compensation.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Following an investigation, the injured victim may have the right to file a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, explained that the impact of a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting all areas of life, including family, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“It is important for victims to seek legal representation when pursuing a personal injury claim so that an attorney can negotiate with insurance companies on their behalf,” Formica said.

“Insurance companies may attempt to settle claims quickly for less than their true value. An attorney can advocate strongly for victims to ensure they are treated fairly and receive appropriate compensation.”
