Wichita Falls bicycle crash kills Kevin Reese, Mckaylee Reese

WICHITA FALLS, TX, (March 25, 2026) — Two bicyclists, Kevin Reese, 45, and Mckaylee Reese, 23, were killed Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle on the southbound access road of Interstate 44, authorities said.

According to DPS, the victims were riding side by side near the Bacon Switch Road exit when a southbound Volvo XC40 driven by a 28-year-old woman struck them from behind at approximately 4:12 p.m.

Both cyclists were pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts. The driver was not injured, and her identity has not been released.

Preliminary findings suggest the driver was inattentive and failed to control her speed. The investigation is ongoing.

BICYCLE CRASH INVESTIGATION

Bicyclists face considerable risks when sharing the road with motor vehicles. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1,105 cyclists were killed in traffic crashes in 2022—an 11 percent increase from the prior year. Many of these fatalities involve head injuries, underscoring the importance of wearing helmets.

“Cyclists are among the most vulnerable road users, and numerous factors can lead to severe or fatal accidents,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“It is essential to determine the precise cause of these crashes. An attorney can assess insurance coverage, consult expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and identify key witnesses. We work closely with families to guide them through this complex process.”

Bond added that independent investigations should be initiated promptly to preserve critical evidence.

“In addition to reviewing police reports, an attorney will examine all contributing factors,” Bond said. “Legal counsel can secure expert testimony, locate witnesses, and evaluate insurance options to help protect victims and their families.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Kevin and Mckaylee Reese may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim. Families can pursue compensation for loss of companionship, emotional pain, and other damages following such a devastating incident.

“The grief and emotional burden after losing loved ones in an accident can be overwhelming,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face, and protecting their legal rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the investigation and help ensure that justice and fair compensation are pursued.”
