SUNLAND, CA (April 03, 2026) – Wern Saetern, 25, was killed Friday night in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Sunland, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said Saetern and a 23-year-old woman were inside a parked Honda Accord on the right shoulder near Sunland Boulevard when a Freightliner truck traveling eastbound collided with the vehicle at about 9:52 p.m.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the CHP, the cause of the crash remains under investigation. It has not yet been determined if alcohol or drugs played a role.
Several factors can contribute to tractor-trailer crashes, including loss of control, mechanical failures, or driver fatigue.
