Washington man injured in Missouri Route 100 collision

FRANKLIN, MO, (April 29, 2026) – A Washington man was seriously injured early Wednesday morning following a head-on collision in Franklin County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Officials reported that the crash occurred at approximately 1:07 a.m. on Missouri Route 100 near St. Johns Road. A 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser traveling eastbound crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a westbound 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class head-on.

The 41-year-old Washington man driving the Mercedes sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital – St. Louis for treatment.

The 22-year-old woman driving the Chrysler was also injured and taken to a hospital for medical care.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the crash.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Head-on collisions are among the most severe types of motor vehicle accidents due to the extreme force involved when two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collide. These crashes often result in life-threatening injuries such as traumatic brain injuries and serious orthopedic trauma.

Driver error remains one of the leading causes of head-on crashes, though contributing factors may also include speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, poor roadway design, driver inexperience, and confusion while navigating roads.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately 2.2 million people were injured in motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2023.

“Factors such as road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all carefully evaluated during investigations,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“In some cases, accident reconstruction experts are needed to determine exactly how the crash occurred. These tools are essential in helping victims recover compensation for their injuries and losses,” Bond added, an experienced auto accident attorney.

“Time is critical in cases like this, and it is important that evidence is reviewed quickly and thoroughly.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, injured victims may have the right to pursue personal injury claims. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that serious injuries can cause significant disruption to all areas of life, including work, finances, and family responsibilities.

“It is essential for injured individuals to retain legal representation when filing a personal injury claim, as attorneys can negotiate directly with insurance companies on their behalf,” Formica said.

“Insurance companies are often reluctant to fairly compensate victims for the full extent of their losses. An attorney can step in to ensure accountability and fair recovery for those affected,” he added.
