Walter Terlitsky dies in Greenville pedestrian accident

GREENVILLE, SC (March 28, 2026) – Walter Stanley Terlitsky, 64, of Mauldin, was killed early Saturday morning in a pedestrian crash in Greenville.

According to Greenville City Police, officers responded to the 1200 block of South Pleasantburg Drive at approximately 12:20 a.m. after reports of a person in the roadway.

Terlitsky was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy conducted by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and ruled the manner of death as accidental.

Authorities have not released details about the driver or vehicle involved.

The investigation remains ongoing.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Each year, pedestrian fatalities continue to increase across the United States, many of which could be prevented through attentive driving. The Governors Highway Safety Association reports that approximately 3,304 pedestrians were killed in the first half of 2024.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

“Factors such as roadway conditions, visibility of signage, and lighting must be thoroughly assessed, as they may contribute to a crash. A detailed investigation is critical in helping families pursue justice,” Bond added.

“An accident reconstruction team may be required to determine exactly what occurred. These resources are essential in helping victims or their families pursue compensation,” said Bond, a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

“It is generally the responsibility of drivers to yield to pedestrians,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal. The family of Walter Terlitsky may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim.

“Families who lose a loved one in such incidents may seek compensation for loss of income, companionship, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and emotional distress,” Formica said.

An attorney can help guide families through this difficult process while ensuring their legal rights are protected.

“Insurance companies often attempt to settle claims quickly for less than their true value,” Formica added. “An attorney will advocate on behalf of the family to ensure fair compensation and proper representation.”
