Wade Wilson dies after Montebello crash on Pomona Freeway

MONTEBELLO, CA, (May 23, 2026) – A 63-year-old man lost his life following a two-vehicle accident early Saturday morning on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Montebello, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Authorities said Wade Wilson suffered fatal blunt force injuries in the collision, which occurred around 2:33 a.m. near the Paramount Boulevard exit. First responders located Wilson inside a black sedan at the crash scene.

Another occupant in the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that have not yet been disclosed.

Investigators continue to work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly crash. No additional details about the second vehicle involved have been released at this time.

The CHP has not announced whether impairment, speed, or other contributing factors played a role in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The CHP is expected to complete a detailed investigation into the collision that claimed the life of Mr. Wilson.

Meanwhile, Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News, noted that serious accidents like this often require an independent investigation to help preserve evidence and safeguard the rights of grieving families.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can revisit witness statements, review surveillance footage from the area, and secure phone and text records connected to the liable party,” said Bond. “Serving as an advocate, an attorney can compassionately guide a family through a devastating loss while also protecting their legal rights and best interests.”

Every year, approximately 36,000 people are killed and another 1.9 million are injured in motor vehicle accidents across the United States. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, leading causes of fatal crashes include speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving, failure to maintain lanes, and failure to yield the right of way.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Wade Wilson may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim following the tragic accident. Surviving relatives can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages resulting from a catastrophic crash.

“We understand the difficult challenges families face after a tragic loss, and protecting their rights is extremely important,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney can monitor the official investigation and help make certain that the family’s best interests remain protected. Loved ones of wrongful death victims may pursue damages for companionship loss, pain and suffering, and emotional distress after a serious or fatal accident.
