SPARTANBURG COUNTY — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a multi-vehicle crash on June 8 that that claimed the lives of three people.
A Honda was traveling the wrong way on Interstate 85 around 12:15 a.m. and collided with a Toyota head-on. The Honda also struck a 2024 Ford Expedition during the crash.
The Honda driver died at the scene, as did two occupants of the Toyota.
The Ford’s driver and five passengers were not injured, SCHP said.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Nicholas Sinclair Young, 36, Venustiano Rosendo Dionicio, 49, and Diana Ortega Vargas, 47. Authorities have not specified which vehicles the victims occupied.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues investigating the wrong-way crash. The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office is also participating in the investigation.
