UC Davis collision kills bicyclist Lincoln Sabini on campus

SOLANO, CA (April 13, 2026) – A UC Davis student was fatally injured Monday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on the university’s West Campus, authorities said.

The Solano County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 20-year-old Lincoln Sabini. According to the UC Davis Police Department, Sabini was riding along Hutchinson Drive near the West Village housing area at approximately 3 p.m. when the collision occurred.

Emergency responders transported Sabini to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Officials said Sabini was a sophomore at UC Davis and a graduate of McClatchy High School in Sacramento.

Authorities have not released details regarding the driver involved in the crash. The incident remains under active investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Unlike people traveling in vehicles, bicyclists do not have the protection of seat belts, airbags, and other safety features and are vulnerable every time they are on the roadways. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1,105 bicyclists were killed in motor-vehicle traffic crashes in 2022, a 13% increase from 976 in 2021.

“Bicyclists are particularly vulnerable on the road, and many factors can contribute to serious crashes,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal and an experienced bicycle accident attorney.

“It is essential to determine the precise cause of these types of accidents. An attorney has the resources to evaluate insurance coverage, consult expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and identify witnesses. We carefully guide the family of the victim through the process.

Bond added that in cases such as this, it is crucial to initiate an independent investigation as soon as possible to help preserve critical evidence.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of any investigations, the family members of Lincoln Sabini may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Survivors of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident such as this incident.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Grieving families of victims are sometimes overwhelmed by the legal processes that are in place to protect their rights.”

“An attorney can serve as a valuable and compassionate resource to guide a family during this difficult time and help ensure that those left behind receive the restitution they are entitled to.”
