Tyler Brown, Owen Haugo hurt in Albertville head-on accident

ALBERTVILLE, MN, (April 15, 2026) — Two young drivers were seriously injured following a head-on collision Wednesday evening in Albertville, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the crash occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Jason Avenue near Kahl Avenue Northeast. A Ford Fusion driven by 20-year-old Tyler Brown of Otsego was traveling westbound when it collided with an eastbound Audi coupe operated by 17-year-old Owen Haugo of St. Michael.

The force of the impact sent both vehicles off the roadway. Emergency responders had to extricate Brown from his vehicle before transporting him to North Memorial Health – Robbinsdale Hospital for treatment. Haugo sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where he remains in intensive care.

Officials noted that both individuals are expected to face lengthy recoveries. The crash site is located not far from St. Michael-Albertville High School.

The incident remains under investigation.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist Tyler Brown’s family with medical expenses and recovery costs.

A separate GoFundMe campaign has also been created to support Owen Haugo’s family during his recovery.

HEAD-ON ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, emphasized that independent investigations are critical in cases like this to protect victims’ rights.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all contributing factors that must be carefully examined,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “In some cases, accident reconstruction teams are necessary to determine exactly what occurred. These resources help ensure victims receive appropriate compensation.”

Motor vehicle crashes injure approximately 1.9 million people annually in the United States. Common causes include speeding, impairment, failure to maintain lanes, failure to yield, and distracted driving, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“Time is crucial in these situations, and victims must ensure evidence is reviewed promptly,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Beyond law enforcement efforts, an attorney can analyze contributing factors, consult experts, review driver histories, locate witnesses, and assess insurance coverage. Acting as an advocate, a lawyer helps guide victims through a complex process while protecting their legal rights.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIMS

Pending the results of the investigation, Tyler Brown and Owen Haugo may be entitled to pursue personal injury claims to recover damages for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost income, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

“Injured victims often file personal injury claims to address the financial and emotional toll of a crash,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal.

“Insurance companies frequently attempt to minimize payouts despite growing expenses. An attorney can advocate on behalf of victims to ensure they receive fair compensation and hold responsible parties accountable,” he added.
