Two-vehicle crash on Alabama 52 kills 65-year-old James Greenwood

DOTHAN, AL, (December 05, 2025) – A 65-year-old man, identified as James Albert Greenwood, was killed Friday in a two-vehicle crash in Dothan. According to the Houston County Coroner, the collision occurred on Alabama Highway 52, about a mile east of Ross Clark Circle, when two trucks collided. Greenwood’s vehicle caught fire, and emergency crews worked for several minutes to extricate him from the wreckage. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

FATAL CRASH INVESTIGATION

Authorities will issue a complete report once their investigation into the accident that claimed the life of Mr. Greenwood is finalized.

In the meantime, Candice Bond noted that cases such as this benefit from an independent investigation by a reputable law firm to help preserve evidence and protect the rights of grieving families.

“Alongside the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, review any available surveillance footage from the scene, and obtain phone or texting records of the liable party,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “As an advocate, an attorney can provide compassionate guidance to a family coping with the loss of a loved one, while ensuring their rights and interests are fully protected.”

Each year, approximately 36,000 people are killed and nearly 1.9 million injured in motor vehicle collisions nationwide. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the leading causes of fatal crashes in 2018 included speeding, impaired driving, lane departure errors, failure to yield, and distracted driving.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family of James Albert Greenwood may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Such claims allow families to seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages following a tragic and unexpected loss.

“We understand the difficulties families face after losing a loved one, and ensuring their rights are protected is essential,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will track the ongoing investigation and work to safeguard the family’s best interests. Loved ones of wrongful death victims may pursue damages for emotional distress, pain and suffering, and loss of companionship.”
