Truck Strikes Motorcyclist Benjamin Donnon in Thurston

THURSTON, WA, (July 10, 2026) — A 43-year-old Olympia man was injured in a motorcycle crash Friday in Thurston County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The victim was identified as Benjamin Donnon.

WSP said Donnon was struck by a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, driven by a 58-year-old man, at about 12:35 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 507 and Manke Road Southeast. Donnon was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The pickup truck driver was issued a criminal citation. The crash remains under investigation.

Motorcycle Crash Investigation

The crash that injured Donnon highlights the dangers law-abiding motorcyclists face on roadways every day.

Each year, approximately 84,000 motorcyclists are injured in crashes across the country. Roughly 35 percent of vehicle-versus-motorcycle collisions involve a driver who failed to yield the right of way to the motorcyclist.

Candice Bond, an experienced motorcycle accident attorney, said that in cases like this, it’s essential to have an independent investigation into the crash conducted by a seasoned lawyer to help protect the victim’s rights.

“Motorcyclists are arguably the most vulnerable people on the road, and a number of factors can contribute to these crashes,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst with Accident Injury News. “Blind spots, inexperienced drivers, and distracted motorists are common causes of these collisions. An attorney has the resources to bring in expert witnesses, conduct background checks on drivers, track down witnesses to the crash, and review applicable insurance coverage — all while guiding a client through the legal process and protecting their rights and best interests.”

Personal Injury Claim

Benjamin Donnon may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the stress and uncertainty following a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting nearly every part of a victim’s life, including family, work, finances, and overall quality of life.

“While no amount of money can undo a devastating injury, it’s important for a victim to understand their rights and what they may be entitled to under the law,” Formica added. “The injured victim in this collision may be entitled to file an injury claim and could seek recovery for damages such as medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.”
