Truck Hit-and-run collision hurt Brook-Lynn Barrientes in Ottawa Twp

OTTAWA, OH, (April 28, 2026) – A Tuesday morning hit-and-run crash in Ottawa Township left a woman and two children injured, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the collision occurred at approximately 10:12 a.m. at the intersection of Road 7 and Ohio 65. Investigators determined that 47-year-old Predrag Rasuo, of Greensboro, North Carolina, was driving a 1999 Freightliner tractor-trailer when he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign.

The truck entered the intersection and struck a 2022 Chevrolet Trax driven by 33-year-old Brook-Lynn Barrientes. Barrientes and her two minor passengers sustained injuries and were transported to Putnam County Ambulatory Care for treatment.

Officials said Rasuo fled the scene immediately after the crash. Law enforcement later located the tractor-trailer on County Road 6 near Pandora, where he was stopped and taken into custody without incident by Pandora Police and Putnam County deputies.

Investigators suspect impairment may have contributed to the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Candice Bond, an experienced tractor-trailer accident attorney, said in cases like this, it is crucial to initiate an independent investigation as soon as possible to safeguard victims’ rights.

“Crashes involving large commercial trucks can be highly complex, with multiple contributing factors,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“An experienced attorney can shield victims from trucking companies, which often deploy their own investigators and extensive resources to defend negligent drivers.”

“Legal counsel can support victims by securing expert analysis, reviewing driver histories, identifying witnesses, and examining insurance policies, while guiding them carefully through the legal process,” Bond added.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Brook-Lynn Barrientes may have the right to pursue personal injury claims pending the outcome of the investigation.

Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, noted, “Victims injured in collisions frequently pursue personal injury claims to recover costs associated with medical expenses, ongoing care, lost wages, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies are often indifferent to the growing financial burden victims face. An attorney plays a critical role in ensuring victims are treated fairly and that insurers are held accountable,” she added.
