Trinity Tyler, Tyler Burkhart Die in Fatal Crash Near Taylorville

TAYLORVILLE, IL, (October 07, 2025) – Taylorville Community Schools are mourning the loss of three teens who died in a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning south of Taylorville in Christian County.

Two of the victims were identified as 15-year-old Trinity Tyler and 17-year-old Tyler Burkhart. A third teen, also 15, died in the crash.

According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. on County Road 1400 East near 1100 North. Authorities have not released details on what caused the accident, and the investigation remains ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

In 2023, alcohol-impaired driving accounted for 30% of U.S. traffic fatalities, with speeding close behind at 29%, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Additional contributing factors included drugs or medication, lane departure, failure to yield, and distraction.

“While law enforcement conducts its investigation, it is imperative to have an independent probe led by an experienced attorney,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“An attorney can re-interview witnesses, review surveillance footage, and obtain phone or texting records to ensure all evidence is preserved. Time is of the essence in cases like this, and families must make sure evidence is reviewed efficiently.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the families of Trinity Tyler and Tyler Burkhart may be entitled to a wrongful death claim.

“Losing a loved one is not only a deeply emotional loss but also an economic one,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident. Consulting a wrongful death attorney can help ensure justice is pursued efficiently and effectively.”
