SAVANNAH, GA, (April 23, 2026) – A 19-year-old Chicago man was killed Thursday night in a crash involving a fleeing vehicle in Savannah, authorities confirmed.
According to officials, Chatham County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a black Chevrolet Trailblazer at approximately 9:54 p.m., but the driver fled westbound on Capital Street. The vehicle then ran a red light at Pennsylvania Avenue and struck the driver’s side of a Nissan Juke.
Trejon Anthony, a passenger in the Nissan Juke, was ejected during the collision and pronounced dead at the scene. The rideshare driver was also killed in the crash.
Authorities detained the Trailblazer’s driver and two passengers. The 37-year-old driver faces multiple charges, including two counts of murder, two counts of homicide by vehicle, DUI, fleeing police, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving, and other offenses. One passenger is also being held for extradition.
The Georgia State Patrol is leading the crash reconstruction, while the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a parallel investigation.
