ToryAnn McFarlane Killed in Riviera Beach I-95 Crash, FHP Says

RIVIERA BEACH, FL (May 13, 2026) — A recent Inlet Grove High School graduate lost her life early Wednesday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 95 near the Blue Heron Boulevard exit in Riviera Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Troopers said a woman driving a Nissan Altima shortly before 12:30 a.m. lost control of the vehicle, causing the sedan to strike a guardrail and a concrete wall before coming to rest in a center lane of the interstate.

Authorities reported that the driver exited the Nissan and was leaning into the backseat when a gray BMW struck the right side of the disabled vehicle, throwing her from the car. A second BMW then collided with the stationary Nissan while attempting to avoid the initial crash.

The victim was later identified by FHP as ToryAnn McFarlane. Officials have not released the identities of the BMW drivers involved in the collision.

The accident remains under active investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Pedestrian fatalities continue to be a serious concern across the United States. According to a report from the Governors Highway Safety Association, approximately 3,304 pedestrians were struck and killed on U.S. roads during the first half of 2024.

“Having the right resources available is critical when investigating a pedestrian accident and establishing negligence,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

“Factors such as roadway conditions, visibility of traffic signs, and street lighting may all contribute to a collision and should be carefully evaluated. These investigative steps are important in helping families pursue the justice they deserve,” Bond added.

“In some cases, an accident reconstruction team is necessary to determine exactly how the crash occurred. These resources play a key role in helping clients recover compensation for losses suffered after a collision,” said Bond, a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

“It is generally the responsibility of drivers to yield to pedestrians,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal. The family of the victim may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim.

“Relatives of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for lost income and companionship, pain and suffering, funeral costs, and emotional distress resulting from a tragic or catastrophic accident,” Formica said.

As an advocate for grieving families, an attorney can provide guidance during this difficult period while also helping protect their legal rights.

“Insurance companies frequently attempt to pressure victims into accepting quick settlements that are far below the true value of a case,” Formica added. “An attorney will strongly advocate on behalf of their client to help ensure fair compensation and respectful treatment throughout the process.”
