NEW IBERIA, LA (April 04, 2026) – At least 13 people were injured after a suspected impaired driver struck parade-goers Saturday afternoon in New Iberia.
According to Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred around 2:35 p.m. at the intersection of Savannakhet and Melancon Road during the Louisiana Lao New Year Celebration.
Authorities identified the driver as 57-year-old Todd Landry of Jeanerette. Troopers said Landry showed signs of intoxication and provided a breath sample indicating a blood alcohol concentration of 0.137g%.
Landry was booked into the Iberia Parish jail and faces multiple charges, including driving while impaired, careless operation, an open container violation, and 18 counts of first-degree negligent injuring. Investigators said the incident does not appear to be intentional.
