Timothy Allen Niece Succumbs to Injuries After Hot Springs Collision

HOT SPRINGS, AR (May 20, 2026) — A 60-year-old man died following a pedestrian accident Wednesday night on U.S. Highway 270 in Hot Springs, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Authorities said Hot Springs resident Timothy Allen Niece was struck by a westbound Ford F-150 at approximately 8:33 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 270 and Albert Pike Road.

Niece sustained serious injuries in the collision and was transported to CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, where he later passed away.

Investigators reported that weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Arkansas State Police.

FATAL PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Pedestrians and other vulnerable road users continue to face serious dangers on roadways across the country. In Arkansas, pedestrian fatalities reached a 10-year high in 2020 with 81 deaths reported, according to the Department of Public Safety. State data from 2023 shows there were 74 pedestrian fatalities.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney and a Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must be thoroughly examined. These procedures are necessary for helping those who have lost a loved one receive the justice that they deserve.”

Data from the Governors Highway Safety Association indicates that pedestrian fatalities in the United States have increased at a significantly faster rate than other traffic deaths. An estimated 6,590 pedestrian deaths occurred nationwide in 2019, marking the highest total in more than three decades.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family of Timothy Allen Niece may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim following the fatal accident.

“It is almost always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Family members of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for lost income and companionship, pain and suffering, funeral costs, and emotional distress after a tragic or catastrophic accident.”

By serving as an advocate for grieving families, an attorney can help guide them through the legal process while working to protect their rights and interests during a difficult time.

“Insurance companies frequently attempt to convince victims to accept quick settlements that are far below the true value of a case,” Bond added. “An attorney will strongly advocate on behalf of their client to help ensure fair treatment and proper compensation.”
