WCSO: Thomas Dierksheide hurt in U.S. 6 collision Perrysburg-area

WOOD, OH, (February 05, 2026) — A two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Wood County left one man dead and two others injured, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the collision occurred around 3:12 p.m. when the driver of a 2010 Honda Civic attempted to turn east onto U.S. 6 after exiting Interstate 75 and failed to yield.

The Honda was struck on the driver’s side by a westbound 2023 Lexus SUV. The Perrysburg driver of the Honda was transported by Life Flight to Mercy St. Vincent, where he later died from his injuries.

The Lexus driver and passenger, identified as Thomas Dierksheide of Bradner, were taken to Toledo Hospital. Authorities described their injuries as non-life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

“It is crucial to determine the precise cause of accidents like this. An attorney has the ability to examine applicable insurance policies, retain expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and identify witnesses. We carefully assist the victim’s family throughout the legal process,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

She emphasized that in cases such as this, initiating an independent investigation as early as possible is important to preserve key evidence.

“Beyond reviewing the police report, an attorney will thoroughly analyze all potential contributing factors,” Bond said. “Legal counsel can engage expert witnesses, review drivers’ histories, locate witnesses, and assess available insurance coverage. Acting as an advocate, an attorney can guide an injured victim through what is often a complex and overwhelming process.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Thomas Dierksheide may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, explained, “Individuals injured in a collision frequently file personal injury claims to help cover medical expenses, anticipated future treatment, lost wages, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.

“Insurance companies are often indifferent to the accumulating costs faced by an injured person. That is where legal representation becomes essential. We stand up for victims of these tragedies every day, holding insurance companies accountable for the damages caused by their insured parties,” he added.
