LIMESTONE, AL (May 02, 2026) – A late-night pedestrian crash in Limestone County claimed the life of a 32-year-old Tuscumbia man on Saturday, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
Officials said the incident occurred on U.S. 72 near Zehner Road, about six miles west of Athens, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Investigators determined that a Lexus SUV struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway.
The victim, identified as Michael A. Fryou, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.
Authorities stated that the SUV was driven by a 19-year-old woman from Rogersville. She was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene to cooperate with law enforcement.
ALEA troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident, including how the pedestrian came to be in the roadway at the time of impact.
