MONTICELLO, Minn. — The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a four-vehicle rear-end crash on June 18 that claimed the life of a Minot, North Dakota woman.
The collision happened at 7:19 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 94 at milepost 194.
Susan Rintoul, age 69, died in the collision. She was a passenger in a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse and was not restrained.
The crash involved four eastbound vehicles in a rear-end sequence. A 71-year-old male from Minot was driving the Traverse and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to North Memorial Hospital.
A 41-year-old male from Carencro, Louisiana, driving a 2023 Ford F-350, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel transported him to CentraCare Health. He was wearing a seat belt.
A 24-year-old female from Hudson, Wisconsin, was driving a 2012 Ford Focus. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Buffalo Hospital, and was also wearing a seat belt.
The fourth vehicle involved was a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer driven by a 38-year-old male from Roseville, Minnesota. The truck driver was not injured.
Airbags deployed in all vehicles except the 18-wheeler. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor for any driver involved in the crash.
Multiple agencies responded including Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Fire Department, CentraCare EMS, and Allina EMS. Road conditions were dry at the time of the accident.
