Steven Fitch Hurt in Middle Island Rocky Point Road Collision

MIDDLE ISLAND, NY (February 15, 2026) — Steven Fitch of Shoreham and two passengers in his Chevrolet were injured Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Rocky Point Road, Suffolk County Police said.

Police said the crash began at about 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of Middle Country Road when an eastbound 2025 Kia struck a southbound 2017 Toyota Corolla. The impact caused the Corolla to spin into the northbound lane, where it collided with Fitch’s 2023 Chevrolet.

The 49-year-old Medford woman driving the Corolla suffered serious injuries and was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital. Fitch and his two passengers were also transported to Stony Brook with non-life-threatening injuries. The 69-year-old Kia driver was taken to NYC Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue with injuries not considered life-threatening. Detectives continue to investigate.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Each year, motor vehicle crashes in the United States kill roughly 36,000 people and injure 1.9 million more. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding was the primary cause of fatal crashes in 2018, followed by the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication; failure to stay in the proper lane; failure to yield the right of way; and distracted driving.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors that are reviewed during an investigation,” said Candice Bond, an experienced attorney and Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“An accident reconstruction team may be required to help determine how the crash occurred. These resources are necessary to help clients pursue monetary compensation for damages or losses following a collision,” Bond said.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Steven Fitch may have the right to pursue personal injury claims pending the outcome of the investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often pursue a personal injury claim to help cover medical expenses, future medical care, lost income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect victims of these tragedies daily, forcing insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” he added.
