Steven Cullen dies in SR 365 Gainesville motorcycle accident

GAINESVILLE, GA, (April 14, 2026) – A 27-year-old Toccoa man was killed Tuesday morning in a motorcycle crash in Gainesville, authorities said.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Steven Patrick Cullen was riding a Honda CBR650 motorcycle at approximately 7:05 a.m. when it collided with a Ram pickup truck on State Route 365.

Investigators said the driver of the pickup, Nathan Michael Meyer, attempted to turn left onto White Sulphur Road and failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycle, resulting in the collision.

Cullen was pronounced dead following the crash. Meyer has been charged with second-degree homicide by vehicle and failure to yield while turning left.

FATAL MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

In 2022, Georgia recorded 1,797 traffic fatalities, including 221 motorcyclist deaths—about 12% of all roadway fatalities and the highest number in the past decade, according to the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, has highlighted the importance of independent investigations in serious crashes. These reviews analyze all contributing factors, including driver actions, impairment, and road conditions.

Motorcyclists are particularly at risk because they are less visible and more exposed during collisions.

“Motorcycle crash victims injured due to another motorist’s negligence may pursue compensation through a personal injury claim,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “When negligence results in a fatality, families may pursue a wrongful death lawsuit.”

Bond added that while compensation cannot replace a loved one, legal representation is critical in helping families navigate the aftermath of a tragic loss.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motorcyclists are far more likely than passenger vehicle occupants to die in crashes per mile traveled.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Steven Patrick Cullen may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Damages may include compensation for loss of companionship, funeral costs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of legal support for grieving families.

“The emotional toll can be overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” Formica said. “We understand what families go through, and protecting their rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the investigation and help ensure that their legal interests are protected.”
