MOUNT SINAI, NY, (April 11, 2026) – Stephanie Bortnowsky, 38, was seriously injured following a single-vehicle roadway incident early Saturday morning in Mount Sinai.
According to Suffolk County Police, Timothy Neff was driving a Ford Fusion eastbound on Chelsea Drive at a high rate of speed when he struck a curb and then a tree, causing the vehicle to overturn at approximately 3:10 a.m.
Bortnowsky was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.
Neff has been charged with driving while intoxicated. The case remains under investigation.
