Fatal South Flores Street collision kills pedestrian Robert Flores Jr.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, (Nov. 23, 2025) — A 41-year-old pedestrian, identified as Robert Flores Jr., was struck and killed early Sunday morning on South Flores Street in San Antonio, police reported.

According to authorities, Flores was crossing South Flores Street near Mary Street at approximately 2 a.m. when he was hit by a speeding vehicle. He died at the scene from his injuries.

Police arrested the 21-year-old driver on charges of intoxication manslaughter. His name has not yet been released. The investigation remains ongoing.

FATAL PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Authorities continue to investigate the collision, which highlights the growing risks pedestrians face while walking along or crossing roadways.

Data from the Texas Department of Transportation shows that in 2019, there were 5,975 pedestrian-involved crashes statewide, resulting in 669 deaths — a 5% increase over the previous year.

“Factors such as lighting, visibility, roadway layout, and environmental conditions are all closely evaluated during an investigation,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner with Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “In some cases, an accident reconstruction team is brought in to determine exactly how the crash occurred. These tools and resources are vital in helping families pursue appropriate compensation for losses tied to a collision.”

Nationally, pedestrian fatalities have risen faster than other types of traffic deaths. The Governors Highway Safety Association reported an estimated 6,590 pedestrian deaths in 2019 — the highest in more than three decades. According to the National Safety Council, another 150,000 pedestrians were injured in motor-vehicle crashes in 2018.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family of Robert Flores Jr. may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim, which can provide compensation for loss of love and companionship, funeral and burial expenses, emotional suffering, and other damages related to the sudden loss of a loved one.

“It is typically a driver’s duty to yield to pedestrians in the roadway,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal. “An attorney can guide a grieving family through this difficult period while ensuring their rights are safeguarded.”

Formica added that insurance companies often attempt to resolve such cases quickly and for less than what is warranted. “A wrongful death attorney will stand up for the family, advocate on their behalf, and work to ensure they receive fair and respectful compensation,” he said.
