WIMBERLEY, TX, (April 30, 2026) – Glen Appling was identified as one of five victims who died Thursday night in a small plane crash near Wimberley in Hays County.
According to the Hays County Homeland Security & Emergency Management, Appling was aboard a Cessna 421C that crashed in a wooded area at approximately 11:05 p.m. in the 200 block of Round Rock Road. Officials said the aircraft had departed Amarillo about two hours earlier and was en route to New Braunfels National Airport.
Authorities reported that the plane was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. All five occupants were killed. The group was reportedly traveling to attend a pickleball tournament.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
