Skyler McGee, Katherine McGee killed in Killen motorcycle crash

KILLEN, AL, (September 25, 2026) – Two people riding a motorcycle were killed Friday afternoon in a crash involving a pickup truck in Killen, police said.

The collision occurred at about 1:49 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 72 and County Road 31, according to police.

Skyler McGee, 23, and Katherine McGee, 25, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Killen Police Department officials expressed condolences to the families of Skyler and Katherine, the pickup truck driver and their families, as well as everyone affected by the crash.

“Please keep the families of Skyler and Katherine, the driver of the pickup truck and their families, and all those affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers,” department officials said in a statement.

FATAL MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

The investigation remains ongoing, and police said some details surrounding the crash have not yet been released. The department also asked the public to respect the privacy of the families as they mourn their loss.

In the meantime, Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, has discussed the importance of experienced attorneys conducting comprehensive independent investigations following accidents. Such investigations examine all potential factors that may have contributed to a crash, including driver error, impairment and road conditions.

Motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable on American roads. Motorcycles may be difficult for other motorists to see, and riders face a heightened risk of serious harm when a collision occurs.

“Motorcycle accident victims who sustain injuries at the expense of a negligent motorist are subject to a personal injury lawsuit, where they may receive compensation for damages,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “However, in cases where another motorist or entity’s negligence results in another person’s death, surviving family members are entitled to a wrongful death lawsuit following the loss of their loved one.”

Added Bond, “While no amount of money can replace a lost loved one, the importance of contacting and securing a wrongful death lawyer cannot be stressed enough. It is a wrongful death attorney’s duty to assist families whose lives have been suddenly impacted. Our goal is to help those affected to ultimately assist in establishing normalcy after an untimely death.”

Motorcyclists are about two dozen times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIMS

Pending the results of the investigation, family members of Skyler McGee and Katherine McGee may be entitled to wrongful death claims and may seek damages for loss of love and companionship, funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following the tragic and sudden loss.

Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal, has discussed the importance of legal representation when someone is victimized in an accident.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming if you, a friend, or family member has suffered a personal injury or the loss of a loved one following an accident,” Formica said. “We understand what victims and families of victims are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay abreast of the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”
