SHREVEPORT, LA (April 5, 2026) – A 42-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon in a high-speed collision crash on Shreveport’s west side.
According to the Shreveport Police Department, the crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. in the 4100 block of Pines Road when a northbound Dodge Challenger traveling at a high rate of speed struck a Chevrolet Traverse entering from a stop sign near Bill Cockrell Metro Park.
Marco Gomez, a passenger in the Traverse, was transported to Ochsner LSU Health, where he was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m.
The driver of the Traverse suffered life-threatening injuries, while several other occupants and the Challenger driver sustained minor injuries.
Authorities believe speed was a key factor in the accident. Charges are expected.
