THORNTON, WV, (May 19, 2026) – A Virginia woman lost her life Tuesday morning in a devastating collision involving a log truck and a pickup truck along U.S. Route 50 in Thornton, according to the West Virginia State Police (WVSP).
Authorities said Shonda Rawlings-Henderson, 51, of Dinwiddie, Virginia, was driving a 2019 Ford F-150 eastbound at approximately 9:30 a.m. when a westbound 2013 Peterbilt log truck reportedly lost control while navigating a curve near Sigmans Hollow Road.
Investigators said the truck’s trailer crossed into the eastbound lane before the logging truck overturned onto Rawlings-Henderson’s pickup. The violent impact caused catastrophic damage to the Ford.
Rawlings-Henderson tragically died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
WVSP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
