CHARLESTON, S.C. — Authorities are investigating a deadly accident involving a U-Haul box truck that killed a motorcyclist on April 26.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:55 p.m. on Meeting Street. A 2014 U-Haul box truck, fleeing law enforcement, struck two pedestrians before hitting a 2022 Mercedes-Benz sedan. The sedan collided with a Honda motorcycle, which then struck a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV.
Shinique Toussaint-Allah, 42, was a passenger on the motorcycle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the U-Haul, a 54-year-old woman from Charleston, was arrested and charged with reckless homicide caused by vehicular injury, failure to stop for blue lights resulting in death, and other offenses.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
