Sherman Police Arrest Angel Navarro in DWI Injury Wreck TX

SHERMAN, TX, (May 12, 2026) – One person was injured Tuesday evening in a crash involving an alleged intoxicated driver in Sherman, according to local authorities.

Police said the collision occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. near the intersection of Houston Street and Grand Avenue. Investigators allege that Angel Navarro crashed into another vehicle that was already in the intersection before subsequently striking a utility pole.

The unidentified victim suffered injuries in the collision and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials have not released additional details regarding the extent of the injuries sustained.

Authorities reported that evidence gathered at the scene indicated Navarro was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was taken into custody following the incident.

The accident remains under active investigation as officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the collision.

DWI CRASH INVESTIGATION

Drunken drivers continue to pose a serious threat on roadways throughout Texas.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, approximately 950 people are killed and another 2,100 suffer serious injuries each year in DWI-related crashes statewide.

Drivers impaired by alcohol can experience poor judgment, slowed reaction times, reduced coordination, and impaired vision, significantly increasing the risk of a devastating collision. Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst with Accident Injury News, discussed the dangers associated with crashes involving suspected impaired motorists.

“Separate from criminal charges, a victim may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” said Candice Bond. “Along with the efforts of law enforcement, an attorney can conduct an independent investigation, review surveillance footage, and obtain phone and text records connected to the liable driver. An experienced attorney can help protect a victim’s legal rights while working to hold a reckless impaired driver accountable for their actions.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

The victim injured in this accident may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that the emotional and financial impact following a serious injury can be significant, often affecting a victim’s family life, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“Although no amount of compensation can erase a traumatic injury, it is important that victims understand the legal rights available to them,” Formica said. “The injured party in this crash could be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim seeking damages for medical expenses, future treatment costs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.”
