Sharail Morgan killed in I-35 crash with tractor-trailer in Bell County

BELL, TX, (June 27, 2026) — A Waco woman was killed and a passenger was injured Saturday night in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 35 in Bell County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS said Sharail Monic Morgan, 53, was driving a 2013 Cadillac sedan southbound on Interstate 35 near milepost 293B shortly before midnight when the vehicle veered to the right and struck a guardrail. Investigators said the Cadillac then re-entered the roadway and collided with a tractor-trailer.

Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield.

A 49-year-old male passenger in the Cadillac was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center with injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact DPS.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Every year, millions of people suffer injuries in traffic crashes across the United States, many of which result in life-changing consequences. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, approximately 2.44 million people were injured in motor vehicle crashes nationwide in 2023.

While investigators continue to determine the cause of the collision and any potential liability, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of conducting an independent investigation.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, review any available surveillance footage from the crash scene, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Time is critical in cases like these, and it is important that the victim’s family ensures all available evidence is preserved and examined as quickly as possible,” Bond added.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, an injured victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, noted that the physical, emotional, and financial burdens following a serious injury can disrupt every aspect of a person’s life, including family, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“It is essential for injured victims to retain an attorney when pursuing a personal injury claim, allowing legal counsel to negotiate with insurance companies on the client’s behalf,” Bond said.

“Insurance companies often attempt to resolve claims quickly for far less than they may actually be worth. An attorney will strongly advocate for the client to help ensure they are treated fairly and receive the compensation they deserve,” Bond added.
