HOUSTON, Texas — A pedestrian died after being struck by a truck on Cullen Boulevard Friday evening, Houston police said in a news release.
Scott Cavitt, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. The accident occurred at 13300 Cullen Boulevard about 8:55 p.m. on June 21.
Houston police Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the fatal crash.
Police said the driver of a black Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on Cullen Boulevard when he struck Cavitt. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The truck driver initially left the scene but later returned to the location. Officers questioned the driver and determined he was not intoxicated. They released the driver after questioning. Authorities have not filed charges at this time.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Cavitt’s death continues.
