DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident involving a Ford Explorer and a Toyota Tacoma.
Authorities identified the deceased as Samuel Tucker, 68, and Reba Tucker, 66. Officials said they were traveling east on Highway 903 when another vehicle struck them head-on.
Investigators said the accident happened May 21 at approximately 8:20 a.m. near Interstate 40. Emergency personnel pronounced both victims dead at the scene. Officials said a Ford Explorer, driven by a 42-year-old man from Magnolia, ran off the road, overcorrected, and crossed the centerline. The vehicle struck the Tuckers’ Toyota Tacoma, causing fatal injuries.
The driver of the Ford Explorer sustained serious injuries and was transported to ECU Health in Kenansville.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
