DANIA BEACH, FL (July 4, 2026) — A passenger was killed Saturday evening in a two-vehicle crash allegedly caused by an impaired driver in Dania Beach, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said Said Akhmedov was riding in a 2020 BMW M8 driven by Vladimir Mushenko. Authorities said the BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed in the 200 block of East Dania Beach Boulevard at about 6 p.m. when the driver struck a curb, over-corrected, and lost control of the vehicle.
The BMW then slid sideways across a raised median into the westbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS.
Akhmedov was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Another passenger in the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz and four passengers were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with injuries.
Deputies reported that Mushenko showed signs of impairment and smelled of alcohol after the crash. He was taken to a hospital, where testing allegedly revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.197%, well above Florida’s legal limit of 0.08%.
Mushenko, 38, has been charged with 22 offenses, including vehicular homicide, DUI causing death, and reckless driving causing damage to person or property. The crash remains under investigation by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
