FORREST COUNTY, Miss. — The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash that happened June 28 along U.S. Highway 49.
The accident occurred in the evening as both vehicles traveled south through Forrest County, according to a statement from troopers. Sabrina Ruffin, age 47, of Laurel, drove a 2000 GMC Yukon when a 2017 Toyota Corolla struck her vehicle from behind.
Emergency personnel pronounced Ruffin dead at the scene due to her injuries, the Forrest County Coroner’s Office said.
The other driver, a 24-year-old man from Fairhope, Alabama, was arrested and charged with aggravated DUI.
Authorities said the investigation remains active and no additional details have been released.
