Ryan Hresil dies in Illinois motorcycle collision with SUV; DUI suspected

ST. CHARLES, IL (April 1, 2026) – A 27-year-old Plato Center man died following a motorcycle crash involving an SUV late Tuesday night in St. Charles.

According to police, the collision occurred at Country Club Road and North Fifth Avenue at approximately 10:52 p.m. Authorities said the SUV driver may have initially fled the scene.

Ryan Hresil was found critically injured and transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Officers located the SUV nearby and identified the driver, a 29-year-old West Chicago woman. A blood test later revealed a BAC of 0.13. She faces charges of aggravated DUI and reckless homicide. The investigation is ongoing.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

This accident was entirely preventable. Impaired drivers pose a serious risk to everyone on the road and can cause devastating consequences.

“Drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs may face criminal charges when their actions lead to injury or death,” explained Candice Bond, a Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

She added, “Apart from criminal liability, the victim’s family may also be eligible to seek compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party.”

According to the National Safety Council, 10 percent of all fatal automobile accidents are caused by drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medications. These incidents are the second-leading cause of traffic fatalities nationwide.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Ryan Hresil could be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Families of victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress after such tragic incidents.

“The grief and emotional burden following a fatal accident can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand what families endure, and protecting their rights is crucial. A wrongful death attorney will follow the investigation closely and work to ensure that the family’s legal rights and best interests are preserved.”
